When executive Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi took over the presidency of Bradesco in March 2009, the bank had just lost the lead to rival Itaú Unibanco. The Chairman of the Board, Mr. Lazaro Brandao, gave Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi the approval to buy the Brazillian branch of HSBC for USD 5.2 billion, the most substantial amount of Brazillian businesses in 2015. The acquisition made Bradesco reopen the fight for leadership in the private segment. Bradesco and HSBC market shares make Banco de Deus bank in Osasco to outperform Itaú Unibanco. The bank beat Itaú Unibanco in three items namely branch network, total investment funds, and the number of account holders. However, Bradesco was closer to its rival in the other three aspects comprising of deposits, assets, and loans granted.

Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi reports that the HSBC helped them make sudden achievements in just two months that could have taken about six years to achieve through pure organic growth. Market forecasting for Bradesco revealed that Bradesco could receive a green light in the first quarter of 2016. Therefore, Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi was chosen entrepreneur of the year in finance by Money.

Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi was born in Marilla in 1951. He schooled at the University of Sao Paulo in the faculty of philosophy and science. Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi started working at Bradesco bank in 1969 and managed to take over the presidency in 2003. He was the president up to the year 2009. During his administration at the institution, the bank made huge profits which contribute about 30% of all earnings up to date. He also created a corporate university during his tenure that began to seek the renewal of leadership cadres. The school established ritual that gave autonomy to all those who got promoted. Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi also encouraged the search for market professionals during his presidency. An example of those professionals is Renato Ejnisman who was the executive director of Bradesco BBI.

Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi exhibited a high degree of professionalism. for instance, he arrived early at the bank and worked till 6:00 pm. In 2015, President Dilma Rousseff nominated Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi for Minister of Finance, but he declined the offer. He is dedicated to Bradesco, and currently, he is one of the most influential executives at Bradesco bank.

Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi was awarded personality of the year because he was a professional that united claw, wisdom, and persistence, and transformed them into sustainable results. He received two trophies as insurance personality of the year in 2007. Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi’s contributions in business improved the stability and growth of the Brazilian economy.

Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi is optimistic about the future of insurance market. He says that the insurance sector is an extension arm of the government and fundamental to the maintenance of the social welfare. The executive perceives insurance sector gaining more significance as the primary challenge because there is the urgency of insurance with the country being in evolution.

Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi is one of the most influential executives in the Brazilian economy because he is the fourth president of the second largest private bank in Brazil in 65 years.
