Peter Briger is a high ranking executive at the alternative asset management firm Fortress Investment Group. Since 2002 he has served as a member of the firm’s management committee. Along with being a member of the firm’s management committee, Peter has also been a member of the board of directors and also the co chairman. He has held these positions since 2006. Before working at Fortress Investment Group, Peter Briger was a member of Goldman Sachs & Co. He would work at this firm for fifteen years and lead its credit management department. By the mid 1990’s, Peter would become one of the partners of the firm. While working at Fortress Investment Group and Goldman Sachs, Peter Briger has proven to be a very valuable member of the two firms. One of his top strengths is leadership as Peter has been an integral part of the firms’ leadership teams.
When he was at Goldman Sachs, Peter would devise strategies, set policies and manage financial professionals. Briger would do the same thing at Fortress Investment Group in a larger capacity. Along with having leadership skills, Peter is also someone who has used his expertise to contribute to the firms he has worked at. Since he is very knowledgeable about credit backed securities and real estate, he was able to provide insight to both financial professionals and clients who manage these types of assets. During the past two decades, Peter Briger has been very much involved in making a positive impact on his community.
Over the years, Peter has managed a nonprofit organization in San Francisco. With this organization, he has been able to help a number of low income families in the city. His outreach to low income families has helped them improve their standard of living and ability to afford quality housing. Similar to his experience in finance, Peter has used his leadership skills to help lead the nonprofit organization into becoming one of the most effective charitable entities in the area. Before beginning his career in finance, Peter Briger attended two of the top universities in the United States. He first attended Princeton University where he completed his undergraduate education. Briger would then attend graduate school at the University of Pennsylvania. At the University of Pennsylvania, Peter studied business and complete a MBA degree.
