Desiree Perez has been a friend and business associate of Jay Z for two decades. She has run his SC Enterprises for a long time. She is a great negotiator and is known for her ability to quickly crunch numbers in her head. She has helped out other performers as well such as Beyonce for who she put together her Formation stadium deal. She also played a big part in the deal that Rihanna signed with Samsung.
She is a member of the Hova Circle of Influence. Desiree Perez is one of five people in this group who run all of Roc Nation. This includes its management, labeling, and publishing. She has also been instrumental in making the Tidal music app a big success along with the other Hova Circle of Influence members which includes her, Chaka Pilgrim, Jay Brown, Jana Fleishman, and Ty Ty Smith. Since 2009, she has been the chief operating officer of Roc Nation.
Roc Nation established Made in America which is an annual music festival that started in 2012. It takes place each Labor Day in Philadelphia. It is held for two days in Benjamin Franklin Parkway and a number of different music genres are represented. Desiree Perez says its future is in doubt, though.
When Made in America was established Philadelphia’s mayor was Michael Nutter. He was fully onboard with a music festival being held each year in the city. However, new Mayor Jim Kenney decided out of nowhere that he didn’t want this festival to be held any longer. He put out a statement that read like an eviction notice, Desiree Perez said.

Jay Z quickly put out a statement showing how his music festival has positively impacted Philadelphia. Desiree Perez also reached out to Complex but the mayor has been frustrating to deal with because he won’t even respond to requests for communication.
